Wildlife photography is almost an official hobby of mine. I find that using my own photos for reference is very inspirational and adds additional interest to my paintings. I also enjoy discovering "hidden" colors that you would only see in natural light that you may not see in a photo. I usually have my camera with me anywhere I go, just in case I spot something doing THE perfect pose for a beautiful painting.
My grandmother was my first art teacher. Rumor has it that I was a very naughty child and the only way to settle me down was to interest me in an art project. My models for my drawing, painting and paper mache sculptural masterpieces were the animals on my grandparents farms - pigs, sheep, chickens, dogs, you name it.
I obviously can't get enough of animals, from those in the wild to the four-legged furkids in our homes that mean so much to us. If you have taken a great photo of your best buddy that you would love to see immortalized as an oil painting - like the one I have here of one of my purrfect cat when she was a little kitten - let's talk!
I'm fascinated with birds, all kinds of birds. If you see a person by a lake or pretty much anywhere, standing around for a crazy amount of time taking photos of herons, eagles, cardinals, cormorants, ducks or any feathered creature doing its thing - its probably me.
I'm kind of obsessed.
